Books are our friends,
We know so far.
They carry out trends,
And this trend spreads large!

Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton,
I'm sure they're not the pioneers.
But the children's books they published,
Made both children and grown-ups please!

The mystery books of Ray,
The long lost books by Bond.
These all are Indian authors,
Don't think, they are from the literary books,
Gone...

Radio

Radio, being old has made history,
By playing super hit songs!
The man has with it, such chemistry,
He can listen to it all day long!

Starting as the Gramophone, it hit the stores,
People bought it in millions.
It got as popular as the telephone,
And then went up to a gazillion!

Such was the profit of radios, they made it large,
Such is the magic and creativity of radios,
They run on battery seldom have to be charged.

Listening to the commercials on the radio,
I still don't think it's old,
Because of the feature's load,
Because old is gold!

25!

This is 25 guys,
Four times more it is a century!
Hope you're liking my blog,
I wish it makes history.

Starting as an English fan, I became a poet.
My English got fluent,
And from there started my pen.

 Sometimes came faults.
Sometimes editing,
But I've to admit that the best hobby is...
Writing and poetry!

Sleeping in the day

What is sleeping in the afternoon,
Somone ask me.
Because I've become a victim lately,
Of this disease!

Be dormant in the day, active in the night,
People say to me sleep tight.
But basically I'm an owl,
I cannot afford a stroll.

 I roam all through my house,
In search of sleep.
But I cannot conceal,
That the sleep in the afternoon is a peace!

P.S. This is true for me, and I started writing this poem at 5:30 in the morning.

Restaurant

Restaurants are fun places to eat,
For dining and for a grand feast.
We get flabbergasted at this feat,
As the chef slices the veggies and meat.

But don't fall into this trap of restaurant,
They're made for occasions,
You eat there when you're tired and hungry
And at other times, control your temptations.

Arive Alive, Dont Drink and Drive

Went to a party in a club,
Many people lost their lives.
The car got uncontrollable,
And crashed in the night.

Arrive alive, we plead,
Don't make your family cry.
And fight against this disease of,...
Drink and Drive

Susruta the medical man,
CV Raman, Nobel prize awardee.
While Salim Ali, the bird man,
Watched birds of vast variety.

JC Bose invented bosons,
VA Sarabhai ISRO.
On the name of Bhabha is BARC,
Sawai Jai Singh made a telescope.

Biscuits

So sweet you are with a chocolate bar,
Your taste always is bizarre.
Hide and Seek, Bourbon give you a branch,
You and me are best friends so far..!

We relish you at colleges,
We relish you at universities.
People relish you sometimes even in the villages,
And gazillion times in a city..

The kids of five are a fan of you,
The senior citizens are too.
Kids carry you to their schools,
And this is hundred percent true!

The Golden Life

Back in 1800's, when transistors were preferred,
The people were content.
The times when the typewriter was there,
Sometimes only one for writers was to be conquered..!

Here comes industrialisation,
A major revolt.
Sometimes I think modernity is the king,
Sometimes I ponder on its fault.

See, how times have changed,
Leaving no trace of that rural life.
See, how they have changed the game,
Well millions of people still strive
To bring back that golden life...

Asthma

Asthma, o' asthma,
How worse can you get?
You don't give people sleep,
Until they jump out of their bed!

You spoil our precious appetite,
Especially at festive times.
We cant eat the finest of chocolates,
You see, we cant eat sweets and snacks alike..!

You are the cause of many coughs,
You are the cause of congestion.
Whenever we go for an extempore with you,
You always spoil our impression.

Go away asthma, you're giving me fits,
I am barely managing to eat chips tit-bits.
The day you'll go, I'll have a grand party,
Beware of me, I'm a health smarty! 

Bored!

I'm bored now, what should I do?
Should I go give myself a treat to biscuits?
Or should I make a new hairdo?

Boredom is the worst disease, as you all can see,
The finest of things do not weaken it.
Nor by TV it is ceased.

The best thing you can do is,
Keep working on your hobby.
That will engage your mind,
And that will therefore fill up,
Your innovative lobby!

Dangerous aspect of Mountains

So calm are these mountains, have you seen them?
They look very pretty in their white coat.
So high are these mountains, have you climbed them?
They look dangerous in their altitude.

Talk of Rohtang, take the case of Khardung La,
These mountains are so difficult to pass.
The weather conditions are extremely dismal there,
Your expectations will surpass..!

Blowing Your Own Trumpet

What would you feel like?
If someone claims him as the king
Make others with your company alive,
And fly with the humble wing

Well some people go on and on,
Taking out their praises,
But you never know about them, their pompous
At every single moment, they change their phases!

The fact that you're humble,
Will impress everyone.
The thing that you're soft and subtle,
You'll be cherished by everyone!

Make your life illuminated,

With the oil lamps burning bright.

Wish you a very happy Diwali.

Oh what wonderful is its sight!

The month of November freezes us down,

Therefore the lamps keep warm.

But don't burn crackers, they're so loud,

Visit you're near and dear ones and make this Diwali a memorable one!

Lights, Camera, Action..!

As I passed down the movies,

I recollected some of them.

Some were silent films of grandpa's age,

Some were the talkie films.

And no doubt our Bollywood,

Has reached so far,
People are acquiring rights of books,

And our actors are also reaching till Hollywood, to the United States of America!

Talk about Sholay, talk of Barfi!

Every classic makes us happy,

And if we feel irritated by this tough life,

Movies of actors like Charlie Chaplin are our choice..!

Now's the time to give some grades,

Directors here fail or win accolades.

For they created a mind-gripping story,

Leading the hero to victory!

Books, friends for Life

I walked to the bookstore yesterday..
What did I see,
Lots of books of Bilbo,
A bunch of books of Harry..

I also saw a section of Rick Riordan,
The creator of Percy,
Walking with Annabeth, his friend,
As shown on the cover of House of Hades.

No doubt I also found Dickens,
The Pickwick Papers, A Christmas Carol,
They went for a hit, they sold a dozen.

Maybe you'll ask in detail,
'Bout the books of Bilbo and Harry,
My mind went fantasy there..
Gandalf  befriended Dumbledore,
Don't know what was happening there.
But these books were awesome,
I mean when I read them,
My world turned up to middle-earth,
My school converted to Hogwards!

I also glanced at Roald Dahl,
The creator of Esio Trot,
Very creative was this person.
Walt Disney was a friend of him,
Maybe the both created Mickey, Goofy and his friend, Clara..

These are all written in books,
The books that are so engrossing.
We can't help laughing at the characters,
We can't help crying.

Maybe you people will think,
I forgot Marvel comics.
No people, I can't forget them as the heroes bring out,
Action and fighting..
My favourite hero is Spidey!

Some books turned out to be cartoons, some went into films.
I won't allow this as this is reproducing,
Even if they take hundreds of permissions,
Copyrights of  the author's are given.

Subjects and Studies..

Shifting cultivation, Ghazni invasion,
Latitude-longitude, forest habitation.
Stereotypes, prejudices and discriminations,
This is SST, my attraction!

Symmetry, rational numbers and algebraic equations,
Numerous numbers and constructions.
I feel too peevish to do this,
This is maths, the king of repulsion...

Vocabulary, grammar and literature
Tagore, Dickens and R.L. Stevenson,
I'm pretty good at this,
This is English, the lord of literary compositions.

Next comes Hindi, the language of the nation,
Kabir, Dinkar and Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
Some kids think this is the worst confusion,
Some kids like me think, ah! This is a pleasure..

Reflection, refraction, radiation,
Filled with formulates, numericals and scientific equations.
Bio, physics and chemistry are its administrations,
This is science, the key to inventions...

Next up comes, Francais, the third language,
Taken after so much discussion,
Elle est excellente, oh!
 This subject's marks give to the percentage so much addition!
I score pretty good at this subject,
This subject's relaxing after so many examinations!

Friends, these were the subjects at my school,
Above they were mentioned.
We all have to study them carefully,
To overcome our obstacles..

Rainy days

Come July, bring us water,
Says the father, says the daughter.
Bring rain, oh Lord Indra.
I'm responsible for growing crops,
And also for people's food and fodder.

People long for a rainy day,
One which brings joy and pleasure
But when water logging takes place,
Everyone's mind is on fire.

Over flooding and all that mess,
Makes children sometimes late for tests.
Frogs hop and moths wander,
Earthworms look for motherly shelter.

But all ends up in the night.
With the shining dew on the window pane by your side!

Waking Up Late

Feeling sleepy, feeling lousy.
At the school you are tardy,
Want to get over this?
Then start waking up early.

Early to bed, early to rise,
Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
This says the famous quote,
Get up in the morning and say this thrice.

Being sleepy, being lazy,
Makes your future, vague and hazy.
So try to prove to your family,
That you have learnt the lesson of punctuality.

Popcorn!

Popcorn, o' popcorn, how tasty are you..
Be it a movie, be it any occasion,
Your smell always gives us a clue!

White as snow you are.
With corns inside your white coat,
Whenever you come around, if you're near, if you.'re far,
Children start a pursuit!

Act-II started your trademark  several years ago,
And you still look fresh and new...
Popcorns look bright and mellow,
You are my second choice to marsh-mallows!

Music

Music is my heart, music is my soul.
Music directors take this as an oath!
They bring us new tunes, they bring us new singers,
They are so very bold!

Some music tones of the 60's and 70's were mesmerising.
Some new tunes are just a bore...
Some music  tones are motivating,
While some are haunting, filled with roars.

While the offensive rap is messing up it,
The Sufi singers have a heart of gold.
They will calm your soul by their euphoria,
And make their songs a super hit!

Music had so much variety, I have pondered on it on and on,
But I  like music and as Celline Dion croons, my heart will go on.......

Independence Day

Friends, remember those days of sorrow,
When the Independence came.
Thousands of people died in the partition,
Many homeless people with no solution,
To India they came.

Friends remember that massacre,
Of Jallianwala Bagh.
Mother, father, brother, sister,
All were sent to God.

Friends, remember those freedom fighters,
Those who were hanged in the jails.
Many people don't remember them,
And think 15th August is just a holiday.

For we Indians, should thank,
The heroes of the nation,
Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Azad, such great people were they.
They fought for the nation, they fought for us,
They gave us the Independence Day!

How I Wonder, the Seasons are so Funny!

Summer turns the heat gear,

With melons, guavas and pear.

And if the sun drives you nuts,

You feel like engines of trucks.

September, autumn's soothing breeze,

In the meadows, high up in the trees.

And here comes November, our dear snowman!

Throwing winds like mighty fans.

Alas, comes the Christmas Eve, in the month of Dec.

Snow's falling everywhere, everyone's going for a trek!

Seasons come, seasons go,

Oscillate like a pendulum, to and fro.

Sometimes its rainy, sometimes its sunny,

How I wonder the seasons are so funny!

Birds

Birds, o' Birds

You fly so high

Free you are free

In the sky

You migrate to distant lands

Your life is never bland

Flying from nests to deep forests

Searching for food and strands

How do you survive? 

Escaping the hunters

Who come to the forest

To make you surrender

But don't lose your beauty

As it is your duty

To fly so high

हिमालय

कश्मीर की ऊँची वादी है यह,

बर्फ का यह पहाड़ है | 

खड़े है संतों की भाँती यह,

खड़ा अटल यह पहाड़ है |

भारत का सरताज है यह तो,

सरहदों की राक्षा करता है |

भारत का अभिमान है,

यही है शक्ति भारतमाता की, 

नदियाँ इसकी निर्मल हैं |

पवित्र सा स्वभाव है इसका,  

हिमगिरी इसका दूसरा नाम है| 

गंगा आती, यमुना जाती,

सारी  जनता को पानी देती| 

शस्य शामला ज़मीं भारत की ,

इसी के तो कारण है |

यह मेरा हिमालय है, 

हिमांचल की चोटी |

यह भारत का मस्तक है, 

बोले कोटि-कोटि  |

Nature in Village Livelihoods

Look at those blossoming lilies 
They are so fresh and charming
Look at the bracing weather everywhere
Its so cool and calming
Here are the bees who are sucking nectar
And here are the sparrows building nests
For there will be a shelter for their little ones
Look as the cool wind wind passes through you 
Don't live in the urban caged lives
There is pleasing life in the villages
Awaiting you......

Jammu, up in the heights
Uttrakhand's winding road drives
Rohtang pass of oxygen it deprives
Arunachal and North-eastern tribes

Rajasthan's sand dunes
Varanasi's holy tunes
The gardens and forests of it
Ah! Their scent their fume!

Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata
The major cities of India
Here the life's quite adjustable
Aha! They form the golden quadrilateral

Now lets go down, to the south
To take in some fish in the mouth
Kerala's busy fish market
Himachal's apple basket

Vaishno Devi's holy shrine
Buddhist monasteries stand still in time
India, my beloved country 
Has a very long and interesting journey
